Enable the Hotjar integration and start tagging screen recordings


Task Analytics allows you to enrich Hotjar's screen recordings with task & completion scores. This is a powerful feature that allows you to sift through screen recordings and zoom in on videos for a specific task or filter based on completion scores. Want to know more? Steps to take:
  1. Enable Hotjar screen recordings in Task Analytics
  2. Set up Hotjar for capturing Task Analytics' screen recordings

Step 1:
Enable tagging of Hotjar's screen recordings

To access the 3rd party integration settings:
  • Select your survey
  • Select “Setup” in the menu
  • Select “Settings” in the submenu on the right side of the screen
  • Scroll down until you see “3rd Party Integrations”
  • Enable tagging of Hotjar's screen recordings
    Select the Hotjar integration checkbox to start tagging screen recordings of Hotjar. Don't forget to click "Save" to save the changes. Once done, Task Analytics sends the task & completion score to Hotjar. That's it!

Step 2:
Set up Hotjar for capturing Task Analytics' screen recordings

To enable screen recordings in Hotjar, follow these steps:
  1. Go to Recordings
  2. Click on "create" or, when already recording sessions, "Edit Settings" (via the gear wheel)
  3. Select the quantity, being the number of recordings you want to capture
  4. Select "Visit a specific page OR a JavaScript trigger fires" and add a Javascript trigger called task-analytics (see image below)



  5. Click "Save & Close"

As of today, the integration will send task & completion score as tags to Hotjar screen recordings. We're working on additional tags containing answers to other questions you've asking users.   1. What if I don't have activated Hotjar's screen recordings?
    If you don't have Hotjar's screen recordings activated, Task Analytics will still try to send the data. However, it will go unnoticed by the user and the data won't be picked up by Hotjar.

  2. Which Hotjar's pricing plans allow me to start tagging recordings?
    You need the PLUS Hotjar pricing plan to use Javascript triggers.
