Exclude day settings: How it works

Exclude days settings: How it works

You can define the number of days you want to exclude visitors from seeing the pop-up invitation after interacting with Task Analytics. If a visitor chooses not to participate by declining or if the visitor participates and finished the survey, the visitor will be excluded for a number of days. The number of days this specific visitor will be excluded depends on the number you’ve put in the “Exclude  days” input field.

Where can I set the exclude days

To set the number of days you want to exclude visitors from seeing the pop-up invitation:
  • Select your survey
  • Select “Setup” in the menu
  • Select “Settings” in the sub-menu on the right side of the screen
  • Scroll down until you see “Domain Settings”

Set the exclude days

You can enter any number between 1 and 999. This is the number of days the Task Analytics pop-up invitation will not be shown after a visitor has interacted with the pop-up, either by declining to participate or by participating and finishing the survey.

This is achieved by setting a cookie on the visitor’s browser after finishing the survey or declining to participate. This _tmc-cookie is set with an expiration date that will add the number of exclude days to the current date. So if the visitor visits your website within this period, and the cookie still exists, the pop-up is not shown.

Take care when using a high number of Exclude days
We cannot overwrite a cookie that’s been set. For example, you can set the Exclude days to 364. But if you decide to change the Exclude days to 30, visitors who have already gotten the _tmc-cookie when you were using 364 days, will not see the survey until after 364 days. Changes made to your Exclude days will only effect visitors who have not interacted with the pop-up invitation previously.
